This very complete café, full of Vallarta’s flavor, is right in the heart of Olas Altas with something special every hour of the day.

Next to the Malecón, Olas Altas is the most crowded street in Vallarta; paved with stones, with Spanish style street lights and French style sidewalk cafés that invite you to take a seat and enjoy the town’s quiet ambiance. This is where San Angel is located and that’s almost more than enough to make it a good choice.

Its breakfast, lunch and dinner service gives you an idea of the whole day activities on Olas Altas. Breathe deeply and start your morning with a fresh omelet breakfast; ask for one of their special smoothies 24ounces of fruit, orange juice, milk, and yoghurt “almost a meal in itself.” You can read the available newspaper or magazines. Once you have finished, how about a stroll to the beach, just a block away?

They have sandwiches and baguettes, salads and a Mexican menu which includes cheese fondue, enchiladas, chicken tacos, cheese or meat filled green peppers, and more, either for lunch or dinner. They boast about making a giant tamale which, although it is not SO giant, it is a big tamale, filled with either pork, chicken, or green chilies.

Their afternoons are especially angelical. This is one of the few cafés visited by both foreigners and locals. Its music is a mixture of different styles that attracts the youngsters and its sound collage goes along with its eclectic decoration: chairs covered with a faux leopard cloth, rattan sofas, wrought iron tables, brass lamps, and lively colors. Mornings are the favorite of young… at heart foreigners.

For a gathering with friends you can choose either the sweet or salty options: desserts and coffee or snacks and beer. The waitresses (have you noticed they all look alike?) will wait on you in a fast and friendly way. The owner is usually around; under the “master’s” watchful eye business always flourishes. That is why San Angel is now a tradition on Olas Altas.
